Baikal thyroid , known as baicalensis , grows to a height of several tens of centimeters and produces small flowers of blue-purple color. It owes its fame not to its aesthetic qualities , but to its exceptionally numerous properties. Baikal thyroid grows in dry , sunny soils of East Asia. According to Far Eastern herbal traditions , the dried , crushed root of the plant is valued for its special effectiveness. Its properties are mainly attributed to flavonoids - it is estimated that there are more than 40 of them in powdered baicalin root.
